This report examines the industrial lift truck market in North American and serves as an update to our previous report of December 2010. These machines have been a part of the industrial marketplace for decades and are found in many end markets from factories to warehouse and distribution sites to big box stores. They are found in almost every end market where goods have to be moved and where weight and distance are a factor.
Table 1 provides a statistical summary of each major section of this report for year-end 2013. The U.S. and Canadian markets for forklifts had an estimated wholesale value of $X.0 billion in 2013. This dollar amount is based on total estimated unit sales in the marketplace and a weighted average of wholesale prices for lift trucks of all sizes during the year. While we completed the work on this report at the end of 2014, we do not have final data for the year.
