CNH Global N.V. (CNH) was formed in November 1999 through the merger of New
Holland and Case Corporation. It is a publicly held company although Fiat is the
largest single stock holder. As of December 31, 2005, Fiat, owned approximately 83
percent of CNH’s outstanding common shares through Fiat Netherlands.
Fiat’s ownership of CNH was approximately 90 percent. CNH is one of the largest manufacturers of agricultural and construction equipment in
the world, based on units sold, and provides a complete range of replacement parts
and services to support its equipment. The company has leading positions in hay and
forage equipment and specialty harvesting equipment. In terms of construction
equipment, the company is third in market share for both backhoe and skid steer
loaders in North America.
