This report updates our July 2005 Articulated and Rigid Hauler equipment analysis. It covers all aspects of the markets for these machines including sales and production levels, component usage, imports and exports and forecasts through the end of 2011. These machines have been under very high demand over the past three years due to strong construction markets and increased mining and high prices in commodity markets.

Tire shortages for rigid trucks have been a problem for OEMs, which aggravated the problem in meeting demand, but in some respects, has allowed OEMs to stretch deliveries further out in time, prolonging the high production levels now enjoyed in the industry. We believe demand for articulated haulers peaked in 2006, and we see a slightly lower market for articulated machines in 2007 and 2008; we look for sales of rigid haulers to peak in 2007, and then taper off in 2008 and 2009. Overseas exports of rigid haulers will likely decline over the next few years.
