This is Yengst Associates' eighth comprehensive analysis on Brazil and is an update to our last report, published in 2011. The work in this report is based on interviews with machinery manufacturers located in Brazil, as well as distributors, trade association representatives, rental equipment contacts and others closely associated with industry.

The construction equipment industry in Brazil experienced many years of sustained growth as capital investment from all over the globe entered this emerging (BRIC) country at an unprecedented pace following the global financial crisis. Construction, mining and agricultural markets in Brazil have not only grown in volume (unit sales and production) but also by the number of new suppliers who have entered the market in the past two years; many of which are Chinese manufacturers. Governmental construction projects in Brazil are desperately needed as the country readies itself for the Summer Olympics and World Cup Soccer events in upcoming years; however, current issues involving political corruption, rising inflation and heavy taxation of foreign goods have been weighing heavily on the country and its people. Fortunately, the long term vision for Brazil still promises great prosperity and growth.

Similar to our previous reports, we focus on a number of important machinery products (listed), with an overview of each machine type and coverage of sales, production, manufacturers offering machines, market share analysis, and our projections as to what we see happening during the next few years. Yengst Associates is pleased to announce with our 2013 report that AWPs (Aerial Work Platforms) and Mobile Cranes (Lattice, Rough Terrain, All-Terrain and Truck) will be included.
