This report examines the mini-excavator market in North America and is an update to our last report of October 2007. Mini-excavators, as covered in this report, are defined as compact excavators with operating weights of up to six metric tonnes. Some OEMs, Caterpillar, Yanmar, IHI and Takeuchi for example, classify mini-excavators as units that weigh up to ten metric tonnes; however, Yengst Associates includes those larger machines, between six and eight metric tonnes, in our hydraulic excavator report.
