The crawler dozer is a staple of construction sites and is one piece of off-highway equipment that is readily recognized by children and adults alike.  These powerful earthmovers have immense torque for pushing and pulling earth, debris and other objects and are tracked for excellent ground mobility and traction.  Dozer sales were down more than 70 percent from the market’s historical high; most of that 70 percent decline was realized between 2008 and 2009 when sales fell more than 50 percent.  Since our last report, the global economy has gone from bad to worse; however, we believe a bottom to the market has been reached and that the years ahead should show improved performance in both sales and production levels.

Crawler loaders
are also readily identifiable; however, we anticipate sales to decline through 2010 when they should grow once again. The crawler loader market has been declining drastically as well in recent years with sales down nearly 90 percent since 2005. Similar to the dozer market (and most other earthmoving machinery markets in North America), crawler loader sales fell more than 60 percent between 2008 and 2009 alone.
